The First Year Law Students’ Exam
Per State Bar rules, all students attending a registered unaccredited law school must take and pass the First Year Law Students’ Examination (FYLSX), or “Baby Bar” after the successful completion of their first year of law school. The FYLSX consists of four one-hour essay questions and 100 multiple-choice questions. The next FYLSX will be administered remotely in June of 2023. Since this is an important exam, it is important that students prepare themselves accordingly.
Pacific Coast University, School of Law offers an online “Baby Bar Boot Camp” for those interested in preparing for the First-Year Law Students’ Examination. The program will cover the three substantive subjects on the exam: Criminal Law, Torts, and Contracts. Additionally, students will be taught how to write effectively for “bar exam” purposes. This program will also allow students to submit essays for professor review and comments. The goal of this program is to improve legal writing, substantive knowledge of the law, and master the application of law to fact.

The Program consists of seven classes to be held from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM on the dates listed below.
These classes will provide students a strong substantive understanding of the topics tested on the Baby Bar. Students will also be provided the presentation documents, which will give students rule statements, organizational principles, and helpful information as to each substantive topic. Finally, students will have an opportunity to write essays and submit them to a professor for direct review.
*Program is subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment requirements are not met.
